Spring arrives officially in Romania on the 1st of March, everybody is walking on the streets with flowers. Time to celebrate that winter is gone. The magnolias are showing their first flowers, the sky is blue and temperature is going up. Time to dream and re-arrange our home and bring a fresh spring breeze inside.
Spring is a season which makes us dream. It is a poetic, fragile, feminine, floral, and romantic season. A fresh start. Sandro Botticelli, an Italian painter from the early Renaissance, embodies all of this. Most known are his paintings The Birth of Venus and Primavera.
Let nature inspire you. The Cabbage chair was designed by Nendo when Miyake asked them to make furniture out of the pleated paper that is produced in mass amounts during the process of making pleated fabric, and usually abandoned as an unwanted by-product.A perfect combination of fragility and strength.
In case you are traveling these days to London: go to the V&A museum and discover the enduring impact of the Florentine painter Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) from the Pre-Rahaelites to today. 5 March - 3July 2016.
Flower prints can never be to much. Gucci used floral prints for their mens collection for this summer. Floral wallpaper comes in different styles: from naive blooming branches till dramatic hand painted flowers. It can be to much to see those flowers on your living room walls or dining room but your entrance can have a bold look. The entrance is the perfect room to make a big impact. When you arrive home in the evening it is the first room you will see, let it give you joy and impress your guests. Use some bold colours, they will stand out better than neutral tones.
Give it a sparkle, create a modern floral look. Flower prints can look sweet, but once combined with stripes and/or other graphical motifs it will get a much more modern approach. Use the same colours for the flowers, and the stripes and they will make a perfect match.
I can imagine taking my breakfast in a room surrounded by flowers and plants, it will be as sitting outside in the garden all year round. Combine big and small flowers, use strong pastel tones add a lot of white and let the birds sing.
Botticelli was painting the young women dressed in flowing slight transparent dresses. Giving a hint of what is hidden. Cabinets with glass doors and color inside, could be a great idea to have such a modern version of the classical glas cabinet to show all your precious objects.
In case floral wallpaper is not your thing you can always add a big flower print, the ones of Irving Penn can be a great inspiration. It will be the center of the room to have this on a white wall.
