We are looking forward to discover new things, we see that interior design trends come and go. The trends change gradually, we rarely see radical changes. Some trends can stay for a decades, influences all around us and this is not only happening in interior design or fashion. We can see those changes in all industries. Never follow a new trend blindly, let it inspire you to adapt it to your own style or needs.

So lets see what is new or what are the small shifts in already existing trends.

Quite Luxury

Quite luxury is for sure not new, coming from the minimalist interiors. Neutral colors stay important, but we see the colors moving away from the grey tones towards the warmer neutrals. It focuses on superior quality and exquisite finishes. Wool, silk, mohair velvet, leather are natural materials that will stay beautiful, they can get a kind of patina over time, but will always remain perfect as they are, new or lived in.Buying pieces to last for a long time. That is the essence of this quiet luxury: not to show off but to give pleasure to all the senses of the people living there. It is about subtle experiences in feeling good at home. This quiet luxury is not defined by style or aesthetics, but the quality is the defining element for this trend. This trend prioritizes unique, custom-made items and excellent craftsmanship as defining characteristics. It is all in the details.

Metals

You like gold or silver, or you can’t decide? No problem, now you can mix them up. It was a no-go but in 2024 mixing them up is full in trend and can bring an extra visual interest to the room. You will see metals all around, not only as details to light fixtures, small objects. Pieces of furnitures, tables, wall coverings are only starting to come in trend, so this is one to keep an eye on in the next years. We have seen the last years some amazing kitchen designs with metal covering the cabinet doors. Now it takes over the whole house. You have “warm” tones and “cold” tones of metal and they can be used according to personal styles. Chrome, once unpopular, is making a comeback in interior design. With new finishes and treatments, metal can feel warm and luxurious, when paired with cozy fabrics and natural materials like stone.

Chocolat Revival

Gone are the cold greys, the warm neutrals take more and more their place and brown, out of fashion for years, is taking back an important place in the interior. Just think of chocolat and you feel a comfort, it relaxes us, bring warmth and joy. Brown is a color that grounds you, brings comfort. Brown is also a color that is very easy to mix with other colors, I love it with variety of brown shades, in combination with dark warm reds, olive. It is a trend full of warmth and richness. Not only as a paint color, but in fabrics or even a dark wood will fit in this trend.

The modern romantic loves without doubt flowers and there will be a nostalgic feeling, but important is the pleasure of small things. Ruffles, lace and all that comes to mind when thinking of a romantic interior, but it will be a very personal expression of this trend. It will get a much more contemporary touch.

Curved Shapes

We have seen the last seasons more and more curved sofas in interior projects. Round shapes for armchairs, softer lines in architecture, and not to forget the trend of the arches. Those curved shapes are still gaining popularity in interior design. Soft flowing lines bring a sense of fluidity and movement in the space. They are creating a welcoming and relaxing mood. You can create a more organic and harmonious feeling in the room. Just one piece can soften a room, bring a visually interesting accent to the room. Specially in times where we hear every day about war and environment disasters we are longing for a comfortable home and those curved shapes can bring a soft atmosphere to our homes.

Wood Kitchens

Warm wood tones take over the kitchen. Natural wood tones offer a sense of warmth and natural beauty. We already saw much more wood paneling the last year. Kitchen were often painted in neutrals or greyish pastels. In case the kitchen was in wood , it would be a natural or greyish wood finish. The wood tones are getting warmer and darker this year. Bringing more warmth in this room. The kitchen will continue being an important part of the house. More and more people start to enjoy cooking and having friends over for relaxed dinners. Add some contrast by using a string marble counter top and back splash.

Japandi

Japandi is a design trend that blends elements of Japanese and Scandinavian styles to create a harmonious and minimalist aesthetic. Both styles have a lot in common. They both focus on clean lines, natural materials, and a sense of balance and tranquility in the space. The combination of Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian coziness results in a calming and timeless look that emphasizes functionality and simplicity. Japandi is perfect for those seeking a serene and uncluttered environment that promotes well-being and relaxation.
