Already 2 weeks passed since the hygge weekend in Viscri. Two days filled with creative projects and Easter preparations.
You only had to make the last turn to the right and you knew that after the next 7 km off road a wonderful weekend would start. Nothing more relaxing than to see the landscape passing by slowly as you can't go faster than 20 km an hour over the unpaved road. A warm meal was waiting for us at Viscri 125 before we would fall asleep.
Surrounded by nature. The barn, where we would spend most of the weekend, decorated with traditional garment, touches of folklore and the cat who will be on your side as soon as the food is on the table. It can't be more hygge than that.
We started the Saturday morning by walking up the hill, in search of branches which we would need for the different craft activities in the weekend. And what a view, looking down on a beautiful Transilvanian village, where people take good care of keeping the tradition. And a fortified church watching over the village.
Lots of branches were taken down the hill, and good to see thatsome of us were used to do some camping. We started to clean the branches with sharp stones.
It was a cool day but the air was filled with spring, at least on Saturday, on Sunday snow was covering the country again, winter was not gone yet. We could work at least for one hour outside before our hands got to cold and we all moved inside to continue with full concentration to wrap the branches with colorful yarns.
Slowly and with a steady hand the branches got more and more colorful. And I must say we all got really into this and some of us worked till late in the evening to get a nice collection of decorated branches. Some to be used to hang pictures on, others will be beautiful in a big vase, ready to be decorated with Easter eggs.
Easter is arriving, time to get in the kitchen and dye the eggs. So this year no artificial dyed eggs for us, we tried out different vegetables and the result was just amazing. See also my last blog post on Easter Preparations where I explain the process.
And there was time for beauty, preparing some scrubs and masks with natural ingredients. Was nice to see the smiling faces the next morning at breakfast, as everybody had tested the scrubs.
A new challenge on Sunday: macrame. For sure we all did it when we were kids, and getting back into this craft was real fun. Only a few basic knots and a few hours later we all made some nice plant holders. And yes, we also tried to dip dye them after the eggs came out of the concentrate liquid.
Simple materials: branches you take home after a walk in the forest, cotton or jutte ropes, some colorful cotton yarns, nothing more to make some trendy items for your home.
We got addicted, only after 1 day of macrame, planning to do more complicated wall hangings soon.
Nothing more relaxing than being on the country side, with beautiful people, doing things with your hands, and eating delicious food prepared by the lovely ladies of Viscri 125
Next weekend workshop is planned in May, the program will be soon on my website.
Wish you a great Easter weekend!
