If I would ask you which is the perfect color for summer, would you say white? White is just perfect. White is reflecting all the light, keeping you cool.
Try once wearing a black dress, and afterwards a white dress, you will feel immediately the difference. Go for white, a lot of white, it can't be to much of white. In general white can be cold, but never in summer. In summer our main concern is to keep cool, will it be at home, at work or during our holidays. Summertime is beach time, or staying as much as possible outdoors in the garden. You can stay under a classical parasol, take a paper one or opt for a more modern option to keep out of the sun.
In summer we realize we can do with much less. All we need is a simple dress, easy slippers and camera so we can look back on our summer memories during the winter months. Keep it light when you travel, see that you can combine everything, just a few fancy accessories and you can wear the beach dress for a fancy evening out.
It is hot and we worked a lot since our last holiday or long weekend, we need to relax and what can be more of a holiday feeling as taking a siesta, a long siesta. Some crisp fine cotton or linen bedsheets and a mosquito net will complete the exotic holiday feeling.
Relaxing time, party time. Did you ever made an all-white party? Refreshing idea, right, when outdoor it is more than 30 degrees Celsius? White table line, don't worry to much about the wrinkles, it is just adding charm. White wine, white food, white dress code. Life can be simple, no stress, specially in summer.
But be serious, the holidays will take 2 weeks, summer will take much longer. So we should also think of how we can survive the office during summer time. Surround yourself with as much as white as possible. Drink enough of liquids, and a small desk fan can be just the luxury you need to make it a productive day and still get out fresh in the evening, ready to party.
And how can our home be more refreshing without using all the time the air-conditioning, because agree it is not good for the environment neither our health. Yes, white..... store away all those blankets, pillows. Simple furniture, not to much of accessories and your room will feel cooler. If white can look to cold, go for very light ivory and grey tones, and add a touch of gold to make it feel more elegant.
So how to keep cool during summer without airco:
- wear white dresses in light natural fabrics such as linen or cotton and open flat shoes
- surround yourself with as much as white as possible
- take out all the accessoires which normally make the room feel cosy
- keep things simple
- stay in the shade, look for a fancy parasol
- enjoy a fresh breeze
- cover the windows with some light linen fabrics, leaving the light through
- keep your desk clean, keep the rooms as empty as possible
Keep cool, enjoy summer!
