Each year people all over the world do research and come together to discuss the color of the year. At the Pantone Color Institute they unite science and emotion of color. The Pantone Color Institute is globally recognised as a leading source of color expertise.
Their choice for 2024 is Peach Fuzz, Pantone color 13-1023.
What is PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz?
They describe the color as a velvety gentle peach tone, a color that enriches mind, body and soul.

How does the Pantone Color Institute describes their new color?
An appealing peach hue softly nestled between pink and orange.
Peach Fuzz is a heartfelt peach hue bringing a feeling of kindness and tenderness. It communicates a message of caring and sharing, community and collaboration.It presents a fresh approach to a new softness. Drawing comfort from PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, impacting our wellbeing. Sensitive but sweet and airy, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz evokes a new modernity. Poetic and romantic, a clean peach tone with a vintage vibe, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz reflects the past yet has been refashioned with a contemporary ambiance.
We are reminded that a vital part of living a full life is having the good health, stamina, and strength to enjoy it. That in a world which often emphasizes productivity and external achievements, it is critical we recognize the importance of fostering our inner selves and find moments of respite, creativity, and human connection amid the hustle and bustle of modern life. As we navigate the present and build toward a new world, we are reevaluating what is important. Reframing how we want to live.
With that in mind, we wanted to turn to a color that could focus on the importance of community and coming together with others. The color we selected to be our Pantone Color of the Year 2024 needed to express our desire to want to be close to those we love and the joy we get when allowing ourselves to tune into who we are and just savor a moment of quiet time alone. It needed to be a color whose warm and welcoming embrace conveyed a message of compassion and empathy. One that was nurturing and whose cozy sensibility brought people together and elicited a feeling of tactility. One that reflected our feeling for days that seemed simpler but at the same time has been rephrased to display a more contemporary ambiance. One whose gentle lightness and airy presence lifts us into the future.
The choice of a color is always very personal, we all have our favorite colors and colors we don’t like at all. And then is the question how to combine them. You can always use a color just on it own, but by combining with other colors you can create complete different looks and make it more interesting.
As a designer I want to respect the colors my client likes, and they are not always my favorite ones. At the end it is their home and it should reflect their personality, not mine. My task is to combine them in a way that even I like those colors. The same I did now with combining Peach Fuzz.
So lets take a look how we can combine Peach Fuzz.

We only have to think of Miami and the colorful buildings from The Art Deco district come to our mind. We can create a very fresh and summery feeling when we match Peach Fuzz with a lot of white, sky blue and some other pastels. Add a darker accent to avoid that this combination gets to sweet. With this darker touch it will give it a more grown-up feeling. This is a color harmony you can use for a summer outfit, even a wool sweaters for spring will give you fresh energy, a fresh start. A very nice color harmony for a girl’s room or a very feminine bathroom design.

A feminine blend, very subtle. Peach Fuzz in combination with a pinkish white, a more greyish peach tone, a rose gold metal and a natural wood. A very refined selection of tones that reflects wellness and wellbeing. I could imagine this for a bathroom design where the choice of materials will make this combination very elegant. A wall finish in tadelakt, Maybe an onyx on the wall, a nice stone for the floor. Rose gold for the faucets, white ceramic sanitary objects and some natural wood furniture. I’m sure you can already feel the relaxing atmosphere of this room.

Bright, young, fresh and full of energy in combination with some strong colors. Those make Peach Fuzz stand out and shine from inside. The orange undertone gives it a happy touch, a feeling of getting together with friends and enjoy life. Also here the darker color brings the balance. What do you think of this combination for a teenager’s room? You can work with color blocks, add furniture in white to give a contrast or natural wood to make it softer. Or for a summer house at the sea side, to get away from the blue and white interiors.
Peach Fuzz in a more vintage look. White, warm light grey and a greyish terracotta. Peach Fuzz is used as an accent to make this combination more alive. This could be an evergreen, stylish and elegant. To be used in fashion outfits, interior, wellness. Timeless, elegant even when it has a bit an old-fashioned look. This could be a very nice combination for a nursery room, quite neutral and will fit their room for the years to come.

Almost an exotic combination with Peach Fuzz. The names makes me think of summery cocktails, laying on the beach under the palm trees. Lots of green tones to make here Peach Fuzz shine. Green is a relaxing color, same as we would have with blue tones, but the yellow we have in the green makes it more alive. This is a mixture full of new energy. This can be a more masculin blend. Green stands for security, loyalty, tradition. The Peach Fuzz brings a younger vibe to it. A nice color inspiration for an office, a wellness or gym studio.

A more mature combination with muted colors. Peach Fuzz lives up this otherwise quite dull color harmony. When using muted colors you need an accent that is more vibrante and brings it alive. You can see that the colors around the Peach Fuzz are also giving this color another tone. Bright colors will enforce each other. A muted color will make this Peach Fuzz softer to the eye. A color combination I could see in a more ethnic setting, bohemian inspired.

Let Peach Fuzz shine and be full of energy by adding some red tones. This is for sure a very joyful color harmony. The orange and red tones will give you energy, make you bold and courageous. This could be a very nice inspiration for a more exotic restaurant or bar. I would not suggest you to use this in your dining room, the orange tones will give you more appetite.Warm color combination for accessories in a neutral interior, it will bring joy into the room.
