Now that the cold days of winter are gone, we can start coming out of our hibernation mood. Spring is my favorite season, it is a time to dream, to get creative and make plans. Plans to travel, plans to change your home, to move into a new house. Plans to start a course, to go to gym. Why is it that in spring there seems this wealth of amazing ideas?
I had last month the best winter idea ever to escape from the cold of Bucharest and to go for a short trip to Miami. And than I wondered why is it so easy to adapt to summer temperatures and it is so hard to get used to the dark winter days. But that is maybe because I'm not at all a winter person.
When I think of Miami than pastel colors come to my mind. The Art Deco district, which is completely different of the Art Deco we know here in Europe. The Cuban district, it is more joyful you see the influence of South America. Mid-century style, round shape, fresh color combinations.
Those pastel colors will work perfectly in a modern interior, when you give it a twist with some more intense colors. Clean lines, sharp geometrical shapes and designs. Pastel tones work well too in combination with light wood, think of the Scandinavian style. As fabrics you can still have some wool in the house, type of compact, a bit old fashioned ones.
Pastel colors will never be to sweet for the romantic soul. Super feminine when you combine more pastel tones together. Soft pink is a color which will comfort you. As summer is not there yet, we will still have some grey days, pastels will bring a soft tone in your home. It is color to make you dream of sunny days. Soft cashmere for the colder days, crisp linen when the sun starts to give some warmth.
Spring is here and we start preparing our home for a fresh start. Flowers are the easiest way to bring spring inside. We can see now every week other flowers arriving at the market. Some have bold colors, others are so delicate that you just want to take them in your home and have the room filled with there perfume.
There is something about soft pink tones that whisper spring. Those delicate tones, whether you use it for a floral arrangement, a cushion, a chair, it will add a dose of spring fever to your room. Soft pink works very well in combination with neutral tones, and a touch of green will give it a sparkle.
A touch of soft pink will give a room in black and white an soft and feminine touch.
Spring is there, summer is coming: we can be playful. Play with different motifs in black and white. A wallpaper with such a strong design needs something to bring a balance. So if you have a room which is maybe a bit to masculin: add something very feminine: lace, pink, or a touch of gold can do a lot.
I don't know why but I'm in the mood for nude tones these days. Spring is when you feel the first warmth of the sun on your face. The shimmer of the sun, the reflection of the light on the water.
Neutral tones from ivory till a burned orange, we can find them in the buildings in Venice. Venice is a city to visit in spring, when the city is not filled with tourists, you can enjoy the wind going through your hair when taking the vaporetto. The sun will comfort you when having a prosecco on one of the small piazzas.
Let Venice inspire you: combine classic style with some contemporary pieces. It can get a bit eclectic, but as we stay in a soft color harmony where one color flows over in the other the final look of the room will look as a piece of art. Go for a classical wallpaper, some glamorous lamp, a touch of gold, and a modern armchair, it will match together and will give your bedroom an aristocratic touch.
The shimmering of the sun will inspire us to use different metals, marble effects, gold tones, all this in combination with some oriental motifs to prepare yourself already for warmer days to come in summer.
Not everybody feels comfortable in a room with pastel tones. You are looking forward to re-style your home but doesn't want to feel as you have to change every 4 months. You can get inspired by nature and have colors in your home which will work all year round. Play with different green tones, add a soft warm neutral. This can be a perfect base, and you add softer tones in spring, bright colors in summer and a darker variation for the cold winter months.
Green is very versatile, it work with everything. Did you ever see a color in nature not fitting the green around? Get inspired by a walk in nature, take a look at the flower shop, and you will find your perfect color harmony.
Kale and greenery, just to talk about the two green tones which were the most trendy the last year. They work well in every style, in an house as well as an apartment. It is a relaxing and refreshing color, think of a spa. It is a color which gives comfort, you can count on it. Add some nice pink tones so it doesn't get to serious.
And when combining different green tones you will create a fresh naturel look.
