Blue - White - Red, This Feels like Summer

Relaxing time, enjoying a meal al fresco on a warm day, or long evenings with friends. Summer has arrived, and we start to slow down as the holidays approach. Bleu, white, and red is such a summery combination that instantly transports us to the seaside. Already our memories of sun, beach, and ocean breezes brings us in the right mood.

Blue, white, and red is perhaps the most well-known and classical combination there is. The bleu can be soft and muted or bold and vibrant, paired with a crisp white and a touch of red. This is a combination that is timeless and can be put together effortlessly. When you have a holiday house by the seaside, this will be a winning color harmony that captures the nautical feeling. What I often notice with my clients is that after they return from a trip or an extended holiday, they feel inspired. They felt so good while staying in a beautiful hotel or B&B that they want to recreate that same ambiance in their new home. However, while you can adapt certain elements, you can’t recreate that exact ambiance in your home. It will feel as being out of place, lacking the authentic atmosphere that made it so special.

But it doesn’t mean we cannot be inspired. So let’s take a look how we could incorporate this timeless color harmony into your home. Blue is an excellent color for the bathroom because it naturally creates a relaxing atmosphere, perfect for unwinding after a long day at the office. Opt for handmade tiles, or zelliges, as they will add an extra texture and dimension to the space. When decorating a kid’s bathroom you can play with a striped decor and add fish or other nautical elements, but take care that you can easily update it in a few years without the need of a full renovation.

Daily routines can often feel monotonous and boring, but by adding a few bright colors, and using nice materials these everyday tasks can actually bring a certain amount of joy. A few years ago I crocheted some washcloths using leftover cotton yarn. They were inspired, in a way, by a trip to Marrakech where women create Boucharouite rugs from scraps of fabrics. Now, every day when I wash the dishes, those colorful cloths put me in a good mood, yes… even while doing the dishes.

The Viscri Blue paint color can be a great option for your kitchen, whether you prefere a more rustic charm or a modern aesthetic. Red chairs will bring you in a good mood right from the moment you start your day. Perhaps you already have some old wooden chairs, or can find some on a flea market, all you have to do is to paint them red. And no need to have four or six identical chairs, feel free to mix and match them as long as they’re all painted in the same color for a cohesive look.

Summer weekends or holidays are for long, relaxed lunches or dinners. Al Fresco is the way to enjoy summer. Perhaps you have a winter garden, you could add a more summery touch, to create that feeling of being away the entire year, even in the cold winter months. I love the way the walls are finished on this picture; the rustic style adds a lot to the atmosphere. The tiled table is refreshing during summer because it stays cool even on the hottest days, at least when it is in the shade.

The evenings are long, and we can enjoy sipping our cocktail while sitting on a terrace. This combination of bleu and white creates a refreshing ambiance as a breeze would flow through. Decorate your table with blue and white porcelain to create a summery and refreshing look. You can think out of the box, maybe you have some blue and white mugs or milk cans, use those to add some fresh flowers on the table for a unique touch. A table arranged with care and love brings joy, even on an ordinary evening during the week. It are those small details that make life feel so much richer and more pleasant..

The combination blue, white, and red will work very well for the bedroom to create a summery ambiance. By combining different motifs such as stripes, graphical designs, and floral patterns, you can create a sophisticated look that makes your bedroom feel as it was designed for a luxurious five-star hotel. This blend of colors and patterns will make your space feel elegant and refined.

This color trio can look great in a modern city apartment. A more minimalist approach, with clean lines, small structures and a well-defined color harmony can transform a small studio in an inviting living space. The small pattern design on the stools make this modern look more even more interesting and visually appealing.

But first of all, make sure to truly enjoy the summer season, even when most of the time we will probably spend in the office. You see, it are often be the small details that help bring us in a summery and more relaxed state of mind. Especially with the high temperatures we are facing these days, we need that fresh breeze.

Let this refreshing trio inspire you

  • for a bathroom or kitchen design

  • for a modern city apartment

  • to create a summery feeling

Wish you a great summer!
