The holiday season can be quite an hectic period, start in time to make some preparations and cross them from your to-do list. Making the guest room ready is one you can really do ahead in time.
You don't want your guests to wake up in the night and feel freezing: prepare some blankets on a stool or chair. It will give a decorative note to the room.
Some people like to drink a glass of water before going to bed, or first thing in the morning. A carafe with water and a glass on the night stand is a thoughtful detail.
It's the 21st century, we can't imagine no longer to live without all are devices, even when we want to take care that social media is not over-taking meeting people in real time. A small note with the wifi password and a clear indication where to find the plugs will help your guests to feel home at once.
For the night owl or the early bird who doesn't want to wake you up: prepare some fun reading material and a night lamp on the side table.
Some fresh plants will show your guests you took some extra care. Now that the holiday season is arriving it is easy to add a mistletoe, some branches of your Christmas tree. They will bring a touch of fresh air. Or a scented candle or a linen spray, maybe even home-made, can bring a subtle touch when entering the room.
Let your guests feel welcome by preparing them a nice tray with some bathroom essentials, you can find a lot of travel size products in the shop. A nice bathrobe and some slippers and they will feel as arriving in a luxurious hotel room.
Take care that there are some extra empty hangers in the room so your guests can un-pack their suitcase. If the room has a wardrobe make sure there is enough space so they can put their cloths inside the wardrobe.
Often the house is not big enough to have a separate guest room and the office or library has an extensible sofa so guests can stay over night. In that case be creative, add a stool or chair next to the bed so your guest can add a book, his phone. Your guest will maybe even more happy when he or she can withdraw a bit in the guest room and have a small desk for the laptop. Prepare some paper and pens, your guest could get inspired to write an old-fashioned letter. And something everybody will love: a small bowl with some nuts, and chocolate for late-night snacking.
Make a list of some essentials so your guests will feel at home
- extra pillows and blanket
- clean linens
- a carafe with water
- some reading material
- shower essentials - towels - bath robe - hair dryer
- fresh flowers
- scented candle
- not to forget: the wifi password
Have a great time preparing for the holidays!
