Your home would be the place to arrive after a long day in the office, a place where you would cook, clean, organize daily life and have relaxing and fun times with the family. Now suddenly you have to stay motivated to be productive. Important is to create a space where you don’t get to much distractions, not start feeling the urge to do some cleaning or cooking in the middle of the day. You should create a place where you feel inspired throughout the day.

The first question which will rise is where to create this corner. We don’t all live in a big house or apartment where we can easily turn the guest room in an office. So take a look around where you could find some space to start organizing your home desk. Maybe a lost space under the staircase? Big closet where you take everything out, store it till later and create there your personal office. In the evening you close the doors and there will be no sign of workspace to remind you of tasks not accomplished.

Take care that you have good lighting. Best is natural light, but as in a lot of offices there will be a need to add some artificial light. Look for a good desk lamp, or take a more decorative lamp which you have in the house. Looking at a white wall? Can be boring to have such a sterile workspace. Now that you work from home you can personalize your space just as you want it. A big painting, a favorite photo or a poster can add just that little more to make this space yours.

You have some place in front of the window? That would be my ideal place to put up my desk. I love to look outside and see the blue sky. Green is a relaxing color, you will bring nature inside and decorating with plants has a lot of advantages.. Add a big plant, or some small succulents on your desk. Plants will purify the air in your workspace and looking at greenery will give your mood a positive boost.

What can you do to personalize that work corner without investing money and at the same time make work more enjoyable? A clean and well organized desk, some stylish accessories. A small bouquet of flowers will add a feminine touch and their perfume will fill the space. No fresh flowers these days as the market is closed? Some essential oils will bring a spring feeling in your home and will also be good for your wellbeing. Lavender to create a relaxing atmosphere, peppermint or eucalyptus to refresh the air. I fell in love the last days with essential oil of geranium. And infused waters help me to stay hydrated.

We don’t want or can spend to much money for creating our home office, specially that it is a temporary solution which we hope will pass quickly. Ikea and other shops can still deliver at home. You can order a shelve and some supports, put them up at a table height and you will be able to set up your workspace on a budget . Be creative, a pile of books will also be a good support.

When we have just a small corner in a room to work from than it is essential to keep it well organized and our desk uncluttered. How can we keep it clean? Some small shelves on top, a utility cart which will keep all you need and can be moved easily to another room in the evening or weekend. With a metal grid you can even add some greenery and make it a stylish place.
