Let Your Style inspire You

What is your style? Not an easy question. We are influenced by what we see around us and what is trendy that moment. Really knowing who you are can be challenging, but it shouldn’t be. Important is to stay true to yourself when you make choices for your home or yourself. Never forget that trends will pass.

Did you read my post about your personal color a few weeks ago? Once you know your color and your style, you will have all the confidence to take the right decisions.

How do you start to discover who you really are. Pay attentions to details, look through the pictures you take, as this is what attracted your eye. It can be the colors, a certain ambiance, thinking back to that specific moment can bring nice memories. This is where you should start. Take a look through your holiday pictures, what was it that made you feel it was the perfect moment. Now you can look for colors and materials that fit those pictures.

And it can be an inspiration for everything in your life. Starting with the cloths you love to wear, your interior, how you would set the table when friends come over. Really for everything you have to choose in life, staying close to the colors you like and the style you love and you can’t go wrong. Don’t let the latest trend influence you. I had experiences buying cloths, they look amazing and trendy but once at home they stay inside the wardrobe and the next year it goes in the pile of cloths to give-away. Simply because it was not me.

Pick one

On a lazy weekend you can look on Pinterest or in magazines and you make a selection of the images you love. And this can be everything; nature, food, a house, a car, etc. Than you make a smaller selection and start looking at the details. It will give you an indication of the colors you like: bright, neutrals, pastels, dark tones or a mix. What about the style? You prefer classical and romantic or images full of energy are more reflection your vibe.

Take two images and start making a mood board, f.ex. for the table decoration of your next dinner party. On the two picture on top left I see an artistic wallpaper and a Japanese image. Blue and white will be the main colors with a splash of red, seen it in the paper lantern. The hanging lamp is inspired on the Japanese paper lamps, the plates are simple, modern and the lines give the artistic touch. All the rest is minimalist, simple and refined. We have combined the refined and simple way of living from Japan with an artistic touch.

Combining the traditional Romanian outfits with the stylish beauty picture will give a modern approach to a rustic inspiration. The little modern house is covered with wooden shingles which we would see on the Romanian country side. Taking an element and use it in a different way is being creative with the things you love. The folkloric motives and floral prints are translated in the classical cement tiles. Ratan, a traditional material for outdoor furniture gets a modern remake with the stripes fabric seat. And yes, you can do it too as long as you stay close to whom you are.

On top on the left we see a more masculin inspiration, elegant, refined taste and exquisite materials. This could be the base for a bar in darker colors. Dark wood with bronze tones, the burned orange velvet for the bar chairs is adding a warm glow. A timeless look.
