Stripes Are Always in Style

Stripes are always in style, it seems they never get out of trend. Who does not have a striped t-shirt in his wardrobe? I guess most of you do. You can’t go wrong by using stripes, it is an evergreen and your room will never look dated. But these days are again on top of the list, I’ve seen so many new collections of wallpaper and fabrics this season, launching all types of stripes. We can even call it a revival.

Also because we live in challenging times, we want to change maybe something in our home, stripes will be an excellent choice. As manufacturers are looking to launch something new, stripes will give them the reassurance they can’t go wrong. Using stripes throughout the room, as well as wallpaper as curtains, this will bring in a modern touch, not to take it to serious. Furthermore, using stripes in a bolder color will enhance its modern appeal.

There is always the classical combination of blue and white with a touch of red, timeless and appealing. I love this combination for a nursery or a holiday home. Combine stripes, add checks, and you will create an interesting and dynamic look. You can also think of the idea of a stripe that is not really a traditional stipe, it can be created out of small strokes or patterns, that makes your stripe unique. Those little changes can make the stripe even more attractive.

Use bold stripes to make a statement, while a romantic four-poster bed complete with drapes and a canopy can be the ultimate dream of your daughter. We will see those beds mostly in a sweet, charming setting to fit a young princess’s room. However, girls are not all dreaming of being a princess, they can handle a bolder approach for their room.

And nobody tells us a strip need to be repetitive, a single stripe can bring just the right accent that will transform everything. Or you can create a unique stripe out of a series of fine lines. There are indeed a lot of creative applications for the idea. Playing with the stripe idea is a perfect way to get creative.

I wrote earlier this year that tiles are making a comeback in contemporary bathroom design. I will be making soon a blogpost showing more ideas related to this trend. Here, we see an interesting play with simple colored tiles, which together form a stripe pattern as final result. This shows us that there is no need for expensive tiles to create a stylish and modern bathroom.

And enjoying the warm summer days is all about relaxing, whether is it at the beach or you sit comfortably in your own garden. Imagine you spend the afternoon on a retro lounger with a bright colored stripe, it will transport you effortlessly to the 1950s. You can sip a refreshing cocktail in the evening in style.

As I mentioned earlier, there are a lot of new fabrics and wallpapers with stripes, but you might also get creative and paint the stripes yourself. Don’t stress if you can’t get the lines perfectly straight, those hand-painted stripes are adding just the right touch to make your project unique. A perfect project to embark on now, before the weather gets to warm outside.

Even a simple touch of a decorative stripe, whether big or very fine can instantly transform the look and ambiance of the room. Add a wide trimming on your curtains or pillows for an extra detail. If your sofa or armchair requires re-upholstering, adding a striped piping around the edges can bring in a unexpected wow effect. It doesn’t has to be more complicated than that to achieve a real transformation.

I love those papier-mâché vases designed by Maryjane Claverol. A beautiful and artistic piece to decorate your home. You can look for some striped vases, pillows, even picture frames to add a fresh touch.
