Polka dots are trending, in fashion, but not only. It is one of those timeless designs that will come back from time to time. Same as we see the classical nautical stripes popping up almost every spring, polka dots are popular. Both evergreens, specially in economical challenging times they provide a sense of familiarity. Same happens to colors, while basic tones will always be around, bolt colors are more prominent when things are going smooth.

Black and white for a polka dot is the classical combination. I have a skirt with them, even that I do not wear it often, it remains a cherished piece in my wardrobe and I’ll take it out on some occasions.
Have them white on black or the other way around, it always works well in any setting. The size of the dot can vary, small or big, regular or irregular, you can’t go wrong. Polka dots bring a fresh and youthful feeling into the home. Graphical and simple in shape, however never overwhelming.

The dot is a perfect idea for a DIY project. Now that summer is right around the corner, we start to feel more creative and eager to change something in our home. Maybe not a great idea for the living room, but what about refreshing the entrance of the powder room? These rooms offer the perfect opportunity to begin “colouring outside the lines”. Best of all, at the end, if you find that those changes are not what you really like, it is easy to paint over once summer has passed.

Quite easy to find the dot pattern on wallpaper or various types of fabric, but you can also find inspiration in other industries. I’ve always loved cement tiles; in most cases, they tend to be quite classical in their design, yet they have also developed more modern designs in recent years, to be able to supply also for contemporary residential project. One thing to keep in mind with cement tiles is that they can easily get stained, they will always have this dusty appearance. Therefore, if you prefer your home to appear all the time super clean, this option is not for you. What is also amazing about cement tiles is that many suppliers give you the option to create your own color combinations, and this can be done for just two square meter. Interesting, wouldn’t you agree?

Considered as a modern classics, they add style to functionality. And just imagine going up the stairs, and having this balls to keep you from falling down.
And what about the dot that is not there? A great design idea for shutters and sliding doors. The aim is to create a sense of intimacy while still allowing the light to filter through. They got inspired by the iconic doors and panels with portholes that the architect, designer Jean Prouvé created in the early 1950’s.
