The Power of Color: Terracotta

We still feel the glow of the summer heat, but the end of summer will arrive soon. Terracotta, a shade between orange and brown, reflects perfectly this feeling. It is a cozy color that helps to bring a warm feeling in your home. It has a lot of the qualities of orange; enthusiasm, spontaneous, gives energy and brings joy. A color for celebration. Terracotta has a more comforting feeling than orange because of the mix with brown. Brown is a color which brings security, is calming, sheltering. Terracotta will make a great transition into autumn.

It was really impressive, the first time when I arrived in Marrakech, to see all the houses in and around the city in this intense color. As mono-blocks, very modern cubes, around the city and capturing all the history once you arrive in the Medina. A color which blends in with the landscape around it.

When we see the darker tones of terracotta we feel a certain comfort, it slows us down and brings time for reflection as the on those hot summer days where you just want to relax with a book, somewhere in the shade and dream of future. In summer we have the feeling that nothing can go wrong. When I think of terracotta I think of pottery, tiles and see the imperfections in the shades, It is exactly that what makes me love this color.
